Heiki Paper+Sound

Heiki Paper+Sound CD/Download (paplus04)

Heiki (Hey-Key) is a veteran of the Toronto electronic music scene. Since 1987,
Heiki Sillaste has released an impressive catalogue of well over 45 synthesizer-based records
and made over 150 compilation appearances.
Heiki’s brand new 12 track album Paper+Sound is his first album as a solo artist.
The album is stylistically divided into two halves. The first half of the album features spacey
minimal deep techno with an emphasis on sub woofing baselines and melodic atmospheres.
The second half of the Paper+Sound album explores slower, dubbed out down tempo rhythms.
Rib cage shaking bass and discrete ambient flourishes feature on all of the subtle
melodic soundscapes.
Several artistic promotional videos have been completed for the album. The videos have
all been created and directed by Heiki and feature abstract, textured imagery overlayed with
graphic and typographic representations of the sounds.

Some feedback on this release:
Lovely acidic, electronic and fusion sounds in these productions which surely have their place
with some dj’s and punters alike, but more for home lounging or post-club journeying where this
old raver’s concerned… : )

I love music like this. Really reminds me of the days when I worked in record stores and
I’d get exposed to all kinds of music. Love the detroit influenced electronic sounds.
Very college radio friendly! Great Lakes is definitely the strongest track here.
– Lost In House
I like this a lot – and will play all of the tracks on my radio show over the next few weeks.
Probably the most interesting thing to hit my in-box this week.
– Lofty, The Sunday Alternative, Ambersound FM UK
Especially like the downtempo tracks.
– Tom Findlay, Groove Armada / Lovebox
A little outside my usual zone here, but it’s definitely a great colection of quirky, truly eclectic
electronica. Great Lakes gets my breaky-heart going with a beautiful blend of deep melody and
light instrumentation. Then it all turns a bit darker! Making up Words is a naughty little rumbler –
deep, dark, atmospheric. Will definitely work. Neon Tube is another wierd and wonderful, wonky
techno journey – a real builder culminating in an intense close… no doubt it will rip the shit out
on a big room!
– Checkpoint Charlie, www.mycuppat.com, U.K.
Interesting blend of different directions. Jazz, techno, breaks and more genres, married
with innersearchin’ and industrial melodies under a genius brain called Heiki.
– Dj Nova, Rodon FM 95, Greece
My favorites are making up words and the shuffler… really good ones!
Will play out and on my weekly radio show!
